Wedding Planning 101

SUPER exciting news! I’ve wanted to put together an event like this for the last 5-6+ years now. Others have done something similar in the past, but I haven’t seen any this year so I figured why not! Let’s see how this goes. Maybe it’s the teacher in me, and loving to teach and educate others on things that I am passionate about, maybe it’s because I was once that bride planning a wedding and I honestly had no idea where to start. It’s probably a little of both. If you haven’t read our wedding horror story read the highlights here.

A few other wedding vendors and I got to talking about our experiences planning a wedding and then working with newly engaged couples. We, as wedding vendors, live and breathe weddings. I have personally photographed over 360 weddings and have attended several more than that. We have seen it all, or at least it feels that way, at this point. For the majority of couples, this is their first time planning a wedding, and unless they’ve been involved in helping an older sibling or a friend plan their wedding, it may be overwhelming to know where to start or how to choose the right vendors. Because let’s face it, not every wedding vendor is right for everyone and there are several factors that go into this decision. There are so many choices, where do you narrow it down? We want to help newly engaged couples through this and that’s how Wedding Planning 101 came to fruition. We realized that we see couples struggling to understand the booking process, price ranges, or package information. For real though, what do you need to be included? To add on? Don’t feel alone this is completely normal and I would say 90% of couples are new to this.

I present to you Wedding Planning 101.

What is it? Wedding Planning 101 is a FREE educational event put on by some of the areas top vendors. We will be going over all you need to know about planning your wedding and hiring your vendors.

Itinerary:

6:00 pm- Registration, get your snacks, drinks, mingle, and find a seat. Listen to Jill from Jill Grohusky - Harpist, Pianist play for us on her harp and/or piano.

6:15 pm- The overall planning process. Presented by Liz De Lano of Oak & Ember. What you need to book first, second, third, etc. and when? What types of vendors do you need to hire and/or consider?

6:25 pm- We will move into presentations from the following wedding vendors about their specific niche:

DJ, Photobooth, and Uplighting: Elite Music Service with over fifteen years of experience, Elite Music Service offers not only DJ/Emcee services, but they offer Uplighting, and Photobooths as well! Their entire team is professional and bride/groom focused. What does that mean? Well, they believe in creating a custom experience for their couples and doing whatever it takes to make sure their couples day is perfect. This is one of the reasons I love working with anyone on the Elite Music Service team. Always A+ ratings when it comes to customer service and client satisfaction.

Live Ceremony Music: Jill Grohusky - Harpist, Pianist Jill’s love for music started at a young age. She began playing piano when she was eight and then learned to play the harp at fourteen. What I love most about Jill, aside from the fact that she’s an amazing human and musician, is that while she is classically trained and can play all the greats from Bach to Pachelbel, Jill also plays music from bands like Journey and modern pop hits! Pop hits on a harp? Yes, please. I can’t wait to hear what she selects to play for this event!

Venues: Aubrey from Sepia Chapel has been an event planner in the past and is currently the Event Manager at Sepia Wedding Chapel. She has all the knowledge you need to know when planning your event. For those not familiar Sepia Chapel-Green Bay was renovated in 2011 to the current beauty it is now, with several additional updates since then. In 2016, owners, Barry & Gina, purchased a second property in Two Rivers to restore, and they opened for their first event at the Two Rivers Location in 2017. Both venues are unique and simply stunning. We are so grateful for them to host this amazing event at the Green Bay chapel so you can see all the beauty that space has to offer. If you’re curious to see some photos of the Two Rivers venue you can check them out here.

Florist: Josh of Nature’s Best Floral & Boutique has been doing floral design since high school. He has a slightly eclectic, modern, and organic style. One of my favorite things about Josh’s floral designs is his use of textures. He is smart, driven, and hardworking. Josh and his team make sure to listen to their couples to get a feel for the vision of their day when creating the pieces for their weddings. I’ve seen him create everything from very simple centerpieces and bouquets to grand, lush pieces for the most extravagant events.

Rentals: Ruby Design is a Full-Service Wedding & Event Decorator. They have a team of talented designers to take your dreams and your vision and turn it into reality on your wedding day. They have rentals for nearly everything you could think of to have for your wedding day. Linens (table cloths and runners, chair covers, napkins, etc.), decorative barrels, table numbers, centerpieces, draping for backdrops, votives, glassware, arches, and much more! They have everything from classic to modern, to rustic and vintage. Their Green Bay location has a huge showroom where you can actually preview your design and experiment with different looks for your wedding day.

Videography: Josh Thompson Media Is a team of talented videographers, who actually got their start in the wedding business as wedding photographers over ten years ago. Soon after they converted over to video and have been creating stunning wedding films ever since. Josh and Jen speak at Photography and Videography Conferences around the US, teaching on all things wedding video. They are passionate about what they do and go above and beyond to make sure they capture a video that will bring their couples right back to their wedding day with all the feels.

Photography: Kristin Reuter Photography Hey! That’s me! Like several of our experts above, my passion for photography started back in high school, but to be quite honest it started well before that with cheap film cameras. This will be my 16th year of photographing weddings. I have photographed weddings and events all over the US and even in Mexico. As a former teacher, I love sharing my knowledge, so I teach several photography workshops every year and am speaking at several conferences this year as well. Anything else you’d like to know about me see my About page!

8:00 pm- 9:00 pm- Social Hour- Visit with the vendors and ask any personal questions that you may have.
