Fall dates are the most requested dates for us. October and Septemeber are the first to fully book out every year, sometimes two years in advance. Here in Wisconsin, we are blessed in the fall with the gorgeous color change and cooler temperatures, what bride/groom wouldn’t want their wedding during this time? Okay, I know it’s not for everyone, and that’s okay. Especially since fall weddings in Green Bay, WI come with a bit of a challenge.

As many of you reading already know, Green Bay is home to the best football team on the planet. No make that the solar system. ;) Well, football also starts in the fall. If you’ve never planned a fall wedding before you may be wondering what the Green Bay Packers have to do with weddings. Joe and I got married on October 14th, 2011, so we know all too well about what it means to plan a fall wedding during Packer Season. You see, hotels will not actually let you book a block of rooms until the schedule comes out. I’ve heard rumors there are a few that will let you book the block, but the rate isn’t determined until after the schedule comes out. I can’t remember which ones do this, so if you know, feel free to drop those in the comments below. However, most hotels will not let you book your block of rooms until the schedule comes out in April. Meaning if you are a fall 2021 couple, you will need to wait until April 2021 after the NFL schedule comes out to book your block of rooms.

If you’re lucky your wedding will be on the date of an away game weekend, but if you’re not so lucky and your wedding falls on a home game weekend there are five things you need to know.

Hotel room rates are going to be much higher than they are compared to away game weekends.
Most hotels will require you and your guests to book a two-night minimum.
You’ll want to get your rooms booked right away. Make sure to let your guests from out of town know that it is a home game weekend so if they wait until the last minute it will be extremely difficult to find a hotel room or Air BNB.
The hotel isn’t the only thing you need to worry about. Traffic the day of your wedding may be increased in and around Lambeau Field and TitleTown. Make sure to plan extra time if you will be needing to travel in this area, especially if your venue is near the stadium. A side note regarding transportation if your wedding is on game day Uber or Lyft rates go up as well due to increased demand on game days.
You may find certain vendors to not have availability or limited options available on game days. Always book early for fall weddings.
